On April 16, Brexton had his first doctors appointment since being released from the hospital. Thankfully Kory came along, and he waited in the car with Brexton while I got checked in and registered. They had a room waiting for us in the back so we wouldn't have to sit in the waiting room and expose Brexton to all of the sick kiddos. The nurse came in asked questions and weighed/measured Brexton. He weighed 5 lbs 12 oz, measured 19 1/2 inches long, and head circumference is 34. For his acutal age, he is in the 7th percentile in height and 3rd percentile in weight and 3% in head circumference. Brexton's doctor came in a short while later. He is so good to Brexton! Dr checked him out and thought everything looked good. He did recommend having Brexton's bilirubin levels (jaundice) checked before we left just to make sure it wasn't any higher since his color was still a little yellow. Dr was very pleased with Brexton's progress and wants us to come back in 3 weeks where we will go ahead and do his 2 month check and get his round of shots! :(
Prior to leaving the doctors office, we went to the lab to check in. They said they would move us up to the front of the pile, but to sit away from people while we were waiting. I went ahead and scheduled Brexton's next appointment while Kory said with him. Finally, he was called back to get his blood drawn from his heel....he didn't like that! We were finally done...oh how I don't like doctor's offices.
Before we left town, we made a visit up to the NICU to see our nurses and give them a cookie we had ordered! Brexton got to snuggle with one of his favorite nurses, Sue! It is still bittersweet to visit the NICU! We enjoy visiting the nurses we love so much, but thankful Brexton gets to leave with us!
Thank you so much for all of your prayers! We feel beyond blessed that Brexton is home and is staying healthy! He is one tough little man!
